COMPANY PROFILE & HISTORY
Desarrollos Metropolitanos, LLC is one of Puerto Rico's leading general contractors and a major contributor to the Island's vibrant urban growth in the areas of commercial, tourism and industrial development. The Company has over 35 years of operations in Puerto Rico, and over $1 billion dollars of construction worth to its credit.  Many well-known projects created by Desarrollos Metropolitanos are now landmarks in the Island.

The Company was founded as a corporation in 1970 by engineers Julio E. Vizcarrondo Jr., Milton Miró and José A. Vizcarrondo to carry out general construction operations as a succession and independently of the real estate and project development activities, handled by its predecessor, Metropolitan Builders, Inc.

In 2003, a new generation of professionals joined the management team, maintaining the same vision and passion that has made the Company well known and respected in the construction industry.  José R. (Joe) Vizcarrondo, serves as President and CEO, following the family tradition and dedication to the construction industry.  Original partners Julio E. Vizcarrondo, Jr. and José A. Vizcarrondo remain active and serve in the Board as key elements of continuity, providing their experience and expertise to every new project undertaken.

For over three decades, Desarrollos Metropolitanos has maintained its image of excellence, integrity and total dedication, delivering top quality construction, within budget and on-schedule.  This philosophy remains the essence of the Desarrollos Metropolitanos business style today.

From its inception, Desarrollos Metropolitanos has been prominent in the construction of hotels, residential, commercial and industrial projects, playing a significant role in changing Puerto Rico's skyline. In the 1990's, the Company grew substantially, expanding its operations to encompass 4 additional firms, each dedicated to a specific niche within the local construction industry. The Company is up-to-date with the most advanced technology, owning highly specialized construction equipment, for any construction requirement.  It has the necessary lines of credit from Banco Popular de Puerto Rico to meet its financial responsibilities, and is backed by Travelers Bond Surety with individual jobs bonded in excess of $65,000,000 and over $250,000,000 in aggregate.
